About the author….

Sheri Solseng Trif, DH, ADT is both a licensed Dental Hygienist (DH) and Advanced Dental Therapist (ADT) in Minnesota. What is an ADT? An ADT is a new dental team member, who works under a collaborating dentist; similar to a nurse practitioner, but in the dental field. Patient education and communication are paramount for a child to successfully complete treatment in the dental chair. The following lines come from her book:

“Miss Claire turned on Mr. Whistle and I could feel water sprinkling on my tongue and teeth as it was  saying, ‘Choo-Choo!’ The water and vacuum felt cool. Robby held Mr. Thirsty against my tongue, slurping up water and sugar bugs, ‘slurp, sluuuuurp’.”

In order to achieve a child’s cooperation during their dental appointment, Sheri uses distractions and silly stories to complete dental treatment. Sheri wrote “A Fun Day at the Dental Clinic” as an educational tool to help establish good helpers (ages 2-10) in the dental chair.
